Length: 78 feet - 24 metres
Type: ketch

1875     Built by Thomas Thompson at Invercargill

1876     Registered at the port of Dunedin

1892     Owned by John Hempstalk, a Lyttelton shipwright until beached on Quail Island.

The date of the Dorset's arrival at the Quail Island graveyard in Lyttelton Harbour is unknown.
